UK’s i3 Group moves into in North America

The i3 Group, which pioneered a method of deploying fibre optic cable through the sewer network, is establishing a subsidiary in North America.
i3’s FS System offers significant cost savings compared with digging up roads to lay cables and is also quicker.
The company has recently launched a 100Mbps Fibre Optic broadband network in Bournemouth.
Its US subsidiary, i3 America, will be based in New York.
Elfed Thomas, CEO i3 Group and of i3 America said: “Delivering superfast connectivity is a global issue.
“The United States has exactly the same drivers as the UK and other countries that we are working in.
“American homes and businesses need access to high-speed broadband that supports bandwidth-heavy applications such as HDTV, so that people can communicate more effectively and access advanced information and entertainment services”.
The group recently warned that UK regulator Ofcom’s definition of super fast broadband as 24Mbps and above could see England being left behind in broadband provision compared with other countries.
